The Clawson and Thompson families arrived in Elko County, Nevada in the late 1800s. Agnes Thompson Clawson bought an inexpensive camera and photographed her family and the scenes of life around the different locations in which she and her family lived. Agnes's younger brother-in-law, Ray Clawson, began taking photographs of his own about a decade later.
